July “No Oven” Meal Plan

Keri Tidwell

july meal plan

July is a month of harvest and hot weather. While you will likely find a rainbow assortment of fruits and vegetables on sale this month, the warm temperature may make you think twice about turning on the oven or stove to cook. But don’t use the heat as an excuse to ditch the healthy diet for quick and convenient take-out. This month, let’s try some cooking alternatives. Break out the slow cooker and, if you have one, an Instant Pot or pressure cooker. Both keep the heat locked inside so you don’t have to warm up the house just to cook supper.

You can also consider taking your cooking outside this month and grill out. Another great option is to prepare cooler foods like fresh salads, salsas, sandwiches, wraps and chilled soups. Pair them with raw vegetables and fresh fruits that you find on sale at your local farmer’s market. You can still eat clean without heating up the house. For quick meals, pick up a rotisserie chicken and pre-washed greens from your local grocer.

Here’s a look at what’s in season in July:

  • Avocados
  • Blackberries
  • Blueberries
  • Cherries
  • Corn
  • Cucumbers
  • Green Beans
  • Greens (arugula, spinach, lettuce, kale)
  • Mango
  • Peaches
  • Peppers (bells, jalapeño)
  • Plums
  • Potatoes
  • Radishes
  • Raspberries
  • Strawberries
  • Summer Squash
  • Tomatoes
  • Watermelon
  • Zucchini
