As 2013 begins to wind down, it's time to shift our focus to 2014 and get ready for National Colon Cancer Screening Day! This year, National Screening Day will be held on March 7. Prepare to celebrate March Gladness this year by scheduling your colonoscopy today. It's the best defense against colon cancer!
Colon cancer is 90 percent treatable when discovered early, and a colonoscopy is the only screening test that can detect AND prevent colon cancer at the same time. If you're 50 or older (45 for African Americans), now is the time to get screened. If you have a family history of polyps or colon cancer, you may need to be screened earlier than 50. According to recent research, family history may play a bigger role in colon cancer risk than previously thought.
Everyone should know that the best defense is a good offense when it comes to colon cancer prevention, so help us spread the word about National Colon Cancer Screening Day. If you've never had a colonoscopy, than March 7 is the perfect to day schedule your colonoscopy, so save the date! It's time to get off the bench, get in the game and get screened!posted on December 13, 2013 in news
