March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month. Colon cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer-related deaths, so many of us have been affected by colon cancer in some way. We invite you to share a testimonial of your own experience with colon cancer or to share a story of a loved one who has fought the disease.
For every story submitted, Stop Colon Cancer Now will make a donation to the V-Foundation. The V-Foundation honors Jim Valvano, the dynamic basketball coach that led the North Carolina State Wolfpack to a 1983 NCAA championship against incredible odds. Valvano is most remembered for his famous speech at the first ESPY awards when he accepted the Arthur Ashe Courage and Humanitarian Award. During his speech, he announced the creation of the V-Foundation for Cancer Research whose motto would be “Don’t Give Up…Don’t Ever Give Up.” Valvano passed away just weeks after the ESPY awards, but his legacy lives on in the V-Foundation.
Do your part to help those fighting colon cancer to not give up. Submit a story, schedule your first colonoscopy or be a caregiver for a loved one who is getting a colonoscopy. Join us as we build awareness. There is strength in numbers!
